WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!
The Bill was an agreement between Tony Evers and top Republican legislative leaders, Robin Vos and Devin LeMahieu. The proposal would have used about $1.8 billion of a Potentially multi-billion dollar surplus.
The deal included:
Property tax relief in the form of $300-$600 Rebate Checks
Roughly $600 million for K-12 education and special education
Eliminating state income tax on tips and overtime pay
The Bill Passed the Assembly, but failed in the senate in a 18-15 Vote. With the Marquette poll being released, the Blame game has restarted, Tony Evers blamed Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Tiffany, who came out against the bill, while Republicans blame poor Democrat leadership.
Fact #1:
Tom Tiffany DID Publicly come out against the bill. In a Post on X, Calling Governor Evers an “Arsonist who wants praise for spraying a drop of water on the fire he started”. with the Larger point being this is a bandage on the larger issue, The 400 Year Property Tax Increase.

The Bill passed assembly with bipartisan support. In the Senate However, EVERY Democrat VOTED AGAINST IT! In an interview before the vote, Senator Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein (D) said as far as she’s concerned, there is NO DEAL! There were in addition 3 Republicans who voted no. After the Bill Failed, Governor Tony Evers went straight into attack mode, even blaming his own democrats for not caring about schools, and that he didn’t want to do the rebate checks, but he had to comprise.

Tom Tiffany and Republicans? Tom Tiffany did say he didn’t support the bill, but he didn’t tell anyone how to vote on it. All the Republicans who voted against the bill had their reasons, and it wasn’t Tom Tiffany.
Tony Evers and Democrats? The numbers don’t lie. When EVERY SINGLE Senate Democrat votes against a bill… THERE IS YOUR DAGGER! Though they have spent weeks trying to pin this on Tom Tiffany and Republicans, they are the ones holding the No Votes. Ultimately, this was another testament to Governor Evers’ failed leadership, He wasn’t able to rally the troops around.
Wisconsin families deserved real relief, and voters deserve the truth about who blocked it. This November, send a message in Madison and Washington by voting for Tom Tiffany — and make sure everyone you know shows up to vote.
